To turn an Android voice recorder recording into text, share the saved file with the Potok bot on Telegram. Recorder apps save M4A, AMR or WAV, depending on the app, and the bot reads them as audio. Files up to 2 GB work, and you can export TXT, DOCX, PDF, SRT or VTT.

Key facts
- Each recorder app picks its own format, so two Android phones can give you different file types for the same meeting.
- AMR files are very small and sound narrow, while WAV files are large and keep more detail.
- A recording lives in the recorder app's own folder, and most apps can also share it from the recording list.
- The transcript keeps the language of the speech and is never translated into another language.
How to do it
- Find the recording. Open your recorder app and look for the recording in its list. Note the name and the length so you can match it later.
- Look at the file type. If the app shows details, check whether the file ends in M4A, AMR or WAV. All three are fine, and no conversion is needed.
- Share it to Telegram. Use the app's share option or your file manager, and pick the chat with @potok_now_bot. The menu names differ between phones and app versions, so follow your own app.
- Use Upload for a long session. A recording that approaches 2 GB goes through the Upload button of the bot's mini app instead of the chat.
- Read and export. A short result appears in the chat and a long one arrives as a file. Save it as TXT, MD, DOCX, PDF, SRT or VTT.
What the result looks like

[00:05] Speaker 1: Send the revised invoice to the client before Monday.
[00:10] Speaker 1: Ask Marta to confirm the catering numbers.

Common mistakes
| Mistake | What happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Assuming every Android recorder saves the same type | A script that expects one format breaks when the app saves another. | Send the file as it is; the bot takes the common audio types. |
| Recording with the phone at the far end of the table | Distant voices become faint and words go missing. | Put the phone close to the speaker and test ten seconds first. |
| Deleting the recording once the text arrives | Names and numbers are where recognition slips, and you lose the way to check. | Keep the original until the text is final. |
| Leaving a noisy setting unchecked | Wind, traffic or a fan drowns quiet speech. | Replay the first minute before you rely on the whole file. |

Frequently asked questions
Which file types do Android recorder apps use?
It depends on the app. Common ones are M4A, AMR and WAV, and the bot accepts audio files of these kinds.
Do I need to convert the recording first?
No. Send the file in the format the app saved it. Converting only adds a step and can lose detail.
Where do I find the saved file?
Most recorder apps keep recordings in their own folder and can share them from the list. The exact path differs between phones, so check the app's help.
Can I send a very long recording?
Yes, up to 2 GB. Use the Upload button of the mini app for large files.
Will speakers be named?
No. Labels are numbers like Speaker 1 and Speaker 2, and you add real names yourself in the exported file.
