Potok transcribes Russian speech; this site has been translated into English for convenience.
1C:Enterprise has a “1C:Speech Recognition” service, available from the platform's built-in language starting with version 8.3.23, but it is a tool for developers, not a ready button in the input field: recognition is built into a form separately, as is already done in “1C:Document Management”. Potok (potok.now), a Windows app that inserts speech by hotkey, helps you dictate text into any 1C field right now.
1C:Enterprise is a platform, so the same question about voice input gets different answers depending on which program is built on it. The platform itself has its own speech recognition service, but you cannot turn it on with the press of a single button.
Does 1C:Enterprise have its own dictation
Yes. Starting with platform version 8.3.23, 1C:Enterprise has the “1C:Speech Recognition” service. It is available from the platform's built-in language, not as a separate button in the interface. The official platform documentation warns directly that the feature works in test mode and only on version 8.3.23. This means the service is not a ready function for the user but a tool for the developer: for dictation to appear in a specific form, such as an invoice, a document or a counterparty card, a programmer has to connect speech recognition in that form. This is already done in 1C:Document Management: there a microphone button sits next to the letter input field. In the platform itself, without a ready configuration, there is no such button. The service understands Russian and English, and next to recognition 1C also has the reverse function, speech synthesis, text to voice; both are demonstrated in the free demo app.

How to dictate text in 1C:Enterprise with Potok
Unlike “1C:Speech Recognition”, which has to be connected in each form separately, Potok is installed once in the system and works in any text field of the active Windows window, including 1C:Enterprise forms, if there is somewhere to type.
- Put the cursor in a 1C:Enterprise text field: a comment, a note or a correspondence.
- Hold the Potok hotkey (Ctrl+Space by default) and speak while the key is held.
- Release the key: the recognized text appears in the same place where the cursor was, punctuation and capital letters are added automatically, and you do not need to dictate them separately.
- If Ctrl+Space is taken by another program, change it in the Potok settings: you can assign a ready combination, your own key or a side mouse button.
Potok's speech recognition is in the cloud, with its own model trained on Russian speech. How dictation works in other business apps is in the overview of voice input in apps.
Where voice input will not work in 1C:Enterprise
Potok is a cloud service, and recognition runs on servers in Russia; it does not work without the internet. If 1C:Enterprise is deployed in a network with no internet access, the ordinary Potok plan will not help: for such companies there is a separate business option with servers inside the organization's perimeter. Potok has no voice commands or voice editing of text: it just inserts dictated speech as text, and you have to fix it by hand after dictation. It has no mobile apps either, only a desktop one for Windows, macOS and Linux: if 1C:Enterprise is opened from a phone or tablet, Potok will not help there.
Frequently asked questions
Yes: “1C:Speech Recognition” is called from the platform's built-in language, and there is no ready button for it in the interface. A programmer adds it to a specific form, as is already done in “1C:Document Management”. To dictate text into a 1C field without changing the configuration, people use a third-party app like Potok.
Voice input is the conversion of speech to text on the fly: the user speaks, and the program transcribes the sound with speech recognition technology (ASR) and inserts the resulting text into the active field, such as email, a messenger or a document. In Potok this works through a hotkey: hold it, speak, release, and the text is inserted.
Potok states about 900 characters per minute by voice versus about 200 when typing, roughly 4 times faster. This is the product's own estimate, not an independent measurement.
Yes: Windows has built-in voice typing via Win+H (Russian only in Windows 11, Windows 10 has no Russian; it does not work without the internet), and the Mac has system dictation in the keyboard settings. Both are free.
Dictation is especially useful for long texts written off the cuff: email drafts, notes, replies in messengers, lecture notes, and also when hands are busy or tired (for example, with RSI). For short precise edits (one-word commands, code) typing is often faster.
By a model estimate, the average dictation speed with Potok is about 900 characters per minute versus about 200 characters per minute with ordinary typing, so speech is noticeably faster than the keyboard.
