Instagram voice message to text

By the Potok teamUpdated ~2 min read

To turn an Instagram voice message into text, you need an audio file you are allowed to use, sent to the Potok bot on Telegram. Voice messages in Instagram direct messages stay inside the app, and the official help lists any way to export them. The bot takes files up to 2 GB, not Instagram links.

Key facts

  • Voice messages in Instagram direct messages stay inside the app unless the help describes a way out.
  • The bot does not take Instagram links, so a copied address will not produce a transcript.
  • Asking the sender for the original audio is often the simplest route.
  • Once you hold a file, the steps are the same as for any other recording.

How to do it

  1. Check what the app allows. Open the official Instagram help and look for any option to save or export a voice message.
  2. Ask the sender. If the app has no export, ask the person to send the original recording as a file, for example through email or Telegram.
  3. Confirm the rights. Use only audio that is yours or that the speaker agreed to share.
  4. Send the file. Open @potok_now_bot in Telegram and attach the audio as a file.
  5. Read the text. A short clip returns in the chat. Export TXT, MD, DOCX, PDF, SRT or VTT when you need a document.

What the result looks like

Example: a short voice note about a shoot

[00:00] Speaker 1: The photo shoot moves to Sunday morning.

[00:04] Speaker 1: Bring the grey jacket and the tripod.

[00:09] Speaker 1: I will send the location tonight.
