Potok transcribes Russian speech; this site has been translated into English for convenience.
Of the 35 voice input services in the checked potok.now base, Russian is confirmed for 20, for 2 it is only a claim on the site, 3 have no Russian, and for 10 there is not enough data to conclude. Potok (potok.now) is not in the sample: its Russian is confirmed separately, by its own model trained on Russian speech.
Dozens of voice input services name Russian in their description, but not for all of them is it confirmed: in some cases it is only a line on the site, and in others there is simply no data to conclude anything. We collected 35 programs and services into one base and checked the Russian language field for each of them.
For how many of 35 services is Russian confirmed
Of the 35 entries, Russian is confirmed for 20: these are cases where the language field directly names Russian (the value true), a mention in the official list of supported languages, or a model trained on Russian speech. Among them are GigaType, built on GigaAM, Sber's neural network trained specifically for Russian, and Glas (LidFly), which states the GigaAM-v3 model with automatic punctuation. For 2 more services, Voisty and SuperWhisper, Russian is mentioned only on the site, without independent verification. 3 services have no Russian: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Access in Windows 11, and Otter.ai, which recognizes English with a Russian accent but not Russian speech itself.
| Russian language | Services | Which |
|---|---|---|
| Russian confirmed | 20 | SpeakFlow, Diktuy, GigaType, Molvi, v2txt.ru, A-GOLOS, Airword, Glas (LidFly), RechFlow, Aqua Voice, MacWhisper, VoiceInk, Voibe, Win+H (Windows voice input), Apple Dictation, Google voice input (Google Docs voice typing + Gboard), Yandex dictation (Alice / Yandex Keyboard), SpeechPad (voice notepad), Voco (TsRT) and Laitis, legacy voice input programs for Windows, Transkriptor |
| Russian: per the site, not checked | 2 | Voisty, SuperWhisper |
| No Russian | 3 | Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Access in Windows 11, Otter.ai |
| Not confirmed or no data | 10 | Talkpad, Wispr Flow, Lynote, VoiceHotKey, WhispeRu, Lispr, Typeless, Willow Voice, Spokenly, Speechify |

How the confirmations were counted
The number was counted from one field about the Russian language across all 35 entries of the base. “Confirmed” means the field directly names Russian: the value true, a mention in the product's list of supported languages, a model trained on Russian speech, or the status of a main language. If the fact sits entirely in the column for unverified data, it is a separate class, a claim on the site, not a confirmed “yes”. A direct “not supported” is the class “no”. Wording such as “100+ languages” without naming Russian, and an empty field, belong to the class “not enough data”, not to “no”. Win+H was checked separately: it has Russian only in Windows 11, while in Windows 10 dictation works in Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish, with no Russian. The method of processing voice is covered separately in the article an analysis of where services process voice.
Where Potok is not the best in the sample
Potok is a cloud service: recognition runs on servers in Russia, and it does not work without the internet. It is not in the sample of 35 services: the data on its Russian comes not from a third-party audit but from the materials of the potok.now site. A comparison with one of the services in the sample is Potok or GigaType.
Frequently asked questions
20 of 35 in the checked potok.now base: their description directly names Russian, a model trained on Russian speech, or a mention in the official list of languages.
For 2: Voisty and SuperWhisper. The fact sits in unconfirmed data, which is a separate class, neither “yes” nor “no”.
Voice input is the conversion of speech to text on the fly: the user speaks, and the program transcribes the sound with speech recognition technology (ASR) and inserts the resulting text into the active field, such as email, a messenger or a document. In Potok this works through a hotkey: hold it, speak, release, and the text is inserted.
By a model estimate, the average dictation speed with Potok is about 900 characters per minute versus about 200 characters per minute with ordinary typing, so speech is noticeably faster than the keyboard.
Built-in system tools (Win+H in Windows, Dictation in macOS, Voice Typing in Google Docs, Gboard on Android), voice browser extensions, and specialized desktop and web services (Potok and similar) that work on top of any app via a hotkey.
Yes: Windows has built-in voice typing via Win+H (Russian only in Windows 11, Windows 10 has no Russian; it does not work without the internet), and the Mac has system dictation in the keyboard settings. Both are free.
