This audio bitrate chart lists eight common bitrates and what each one costs in disk space. Opus for voice at 24 kbps takes 0.18 MB a minute, MP3 at 128 kbps takes 0.96 MB, and CD-quality WAV takes about 10.58 MB. The last column shows how many hours fit into 2 GB.

Key facts
- The chart covers common bitrates from low voice quality up to CD-quality WAV, and each row gives MB per minute, MB per hour and hours per 2 GB.
- Sizes use decimal units, where 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes, so a number here can differ a little from the size your file manager shows.
- Rows are a calculation for a constant bitrate. This page does not measure any real file, and it has no input field: it is a fixed table.
- Opus at 24 kbps gives about 185 hours in 2 GB, while uncompressed CD-quality WAV gives about 3.1 hours.

| Format and quality | kbps | MB per minute | MB per hour | Hours that fit in 2 GB |

| MP3 or AAC, voice | 96 | 0.72 | 43.2 | 46.3 |
| MP3, common default | 128 | 0.96 | 57.6 | 34.7 |
| MP3 or AAC, music | 192 | 1.44 | 86.4 | 23.1 |
| MP3, high | 320 | 2.40 | 144.0 | 13.9 |
| Opus, voice | 24 | 0.18 | 10.8 | 185.2 |
| WAV, 16 kHz mono 16-bit | 256 | 1.92 | 115.2 | 17.4 |
| WAV, 44.1 kHz stereo 16-bit (CD quality) | 1411.2 | 10.58 | 635.0 | 3.1 |
Sizes use decimal units (1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes). MB per minute = kbps × 60 ÷ 8 ÷ 1000. This is a calculation, not a measurement of any file.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert kbps to MB per minute?
Multiply the kbps value by 60, then divide by 8 and by 1000. For 128 kbps the result is 0.96 MB per minute, and 57.6 MB per hour.
Which bitrate in the chart is the smallest?
Opus for voice at 24 kbps. It takes 0.18 MB a minute and 10.8 MB an hour, so about 185 hours fit into 2 GB.
How many hours of CD-quality WAV fit into 2 GB?
About 3.1 hours. The row for 44.1 kHz stereo 16-bit WAV, at 1411.2 kbps, shows 635.0 MB per hour.
Why does the chart show two WAV rows?
The WAV container can hold audio at different sample rates and channel counts. The chart lists 16 kHz mono and CD quality, which are far apart in size: 256 kbps against 1411.2 kbps.
Does the chart cover variable bitrate files?
No. It assumes a constant bitrate. A variable bitrate file changes its rate with the sound, so its real size can land above or below the row.
